UMD Emulator is an open-source UMD/ISO launcher for Sony's PlayStation Portable, created in 2005 and developed by Humma Kavula & friends. UMD Emulator is the product of Fastloader, sporting a new look a new name and updated features, it's very popular among users.
The original UMD Emulator was released on September 14, 2005 where it gained instant recognition and fame among the PSP homebrew communities as it allowed users to play many recent ISO releases and gave new features to expand compatibility.
Humma Kavula announced his retirement from further development on October 29, 2005, thus deteriorating any hopes of updates to his program. Despite his retirement, Humma Kavula did manage to release the source code to the application on May 3, 2006 stating that developers are free to use it, and only quit the scene due to the cat and mouse game between developers and Sony.
