Super Game Boy

The Super Game Boy was an oversized SNES cartridge that accepted Game Boy and some black GBC cartridges, allowing you to play these games on your TV. It is similar to the Game Boy Player for the Nintendo Gamecube, although it came out years beforehand.
Compatibility was limited to original Game Boy cartridges as well as backwards-compatible Game Boy Color cartridges. The Super Game Boy was capable of adding color to the games, although it was similar to the effect you would get when putting a gray Game Boy cartridge in a Game Boy Color - only four shades of color were used. The four colors were customizeable however.
In addition, some games contained extra material for those using a Super Game Boy. For instance, some included custom color palettes, and some included custom borders for the TV. See the image to the right for an example.
