History
As soon as the PSP launched in Japan in December of 2004, everyone who was anyone knew that the PSP had unrealised capabilities. It was only two months later when the first homebrew software was created and right after that the PSP Scene exploded.
Emulators for other systems were being created to work on the PSP, tools, demos and even intros began to overwhelm the homebrew PSP followers.
But it wasn't until May when PSP Piracy rose. There were several groups rumoured to be working on cracking the PSP's UMD, but one fateful day in May, the group Paradox created the first UMD Dumper application. At first it was only for members within Paradox, but then it grew as other groups began to dump the UMD games.
A month later, the dumper utility got an upgrade and then PSP Piracy boomed. Practically every PSP Game that was released has been dumped.
Later on several other methods of dumping the UMD's became available; all of these were based upon the original code created by Paradox.
