PSP Loaders
From PHWiki
A PSP Loader is an application stored on the PlayStation Portable's Memory Stick that can launch a back up version of a UMD that is in ISO format. Sony included protection to the PSPs kernel, which disallowed the use of unauthorized loading of files from the memory stick. Loaders were created to circumvent this protection and to play homebrew and ISOs.
History
Ever since the PSP was first cracked there has been a huge demand for PSP ISO loaders. It wasn't long after PSP-Dev's release of Kxploit for 1.50 firmware PSPs that the first individual loaders appeared.
The first game to be loaded was Lumines, on June 30, 2005, this was seen as a great accomplishment and allowed other developers to see how things could be done. All the individual loaders created ever since required certain UMD games to be inserted in the PSP and most did not allow sound to play. Team Xecuter released a no UMD check loader for Lumines on July 1st, 2005, but many games still required UMDs to play. PPF patches had to be created for each game and often the loaders only worked with a stroke of luck.
A breakthrough for loaders was released on July 19, 2005 by a group named FPL when they released their PSPX Loader which patched the kernel so games could be loaded just by changing the paths of the boot.bin file allowing easy access to playing ISOs. Fastloader was then released on July 1st, 2005 which didn't even need anything changed thus allowing the ISOs to be played with no interference.
