Game Gear Flashkit

From PHWiki

The Game Gear Flashkit is made by Tototek and is a recent and probably only commercial Game Gear flash memory device available to the public. As you can see, the Flashkit sticks out far. The Flashkit is able to use Game Gear ROMs and Sega Master System ROMs. Like with the Extreme Flash Advance for GBA, you cannot backup game cartridges with this kit.

The Flashkit has 32 Mbits of NOR flash memory. Like the EFA, this kit is all in one, meaning, it is the flascartridge AND Programmer on 1 PCB. It needs the LPT (ECP/EPP) to transfer data and the USB for Power it has a switch to Game Gear and Sega Master System, This way you can upload Game Gear and Sega Master System games at the same time, switch to Game Gear for GG roms and SMS for Sega Master System roms.

The Flashkit comes naked, so you need to take an original Game Gear Case and cut some above so the Flashkit fits nice, it will not work when not fitted in a case.

It has to be said, using printerport Flashkits in this century is a bit old fashion and some new pc's don't come with a LPT port anymore. Also LPT Flashkits tend to refuse to work on some pc's even after correct bios settings.

Software you can use

Dreamwriter SMS/GG

The Software is easy to use and doesn't need much explenation.
Write to | Read from Flashkit | Write Save to PC | Write Save to Flash | Setup |Exit

Note: The "Read From Flashkit" is only to backup the roms you wrote to the kit, NOT to backup original gamecartridges.
