The Game Boy or GB was launched in 1989 by Nintendo. It's widely known as the most successful handheld game system of all time, if not the most successful console of all time.

  • Customised Z80 CPU at ~4MHz
  • 8KB RAM, 8KB VRAM
  • Mono speaker built-in with stereo headphone jack
  • Cartridge slot supporting carts up to 16 megabits
  • Link port, allowing two GBs to be connected together for social gaming. With extra accessories, allows up to 16 GBs to be linked together
  • Standard NES-like controls
  • Runs on 4 AA batteries for up to 10 hours, or using external AC adapter or rechargable battery pack
