Chrono Trigger

From PHWiki

Chrono Trigger is a classic RPG on the SNES. Made by Square and released in 1995, it has become known as a legendary example of a good RPG. The creators (now called Square-Enix) have ported the game and it is scheduled to be commercially released via cartridge for the NDS on November 25, 2008.

There have been several attempts to remake the game in 3D, the two most famous being Chrono Resurrection and Chrono Trigger Remake Project, but both of them have been forced to shut down due to Cease and Desist letters from Square-Enix.

Because its scrolling relies on HDMA, it does not run in SNES Advance or SNES DS. Limited HDMA support was added in v0.26 of Snezziboy, but the game remains slow and is unplayable due to many invisible texts and objects. SnezziDS however runs the game well, despite issues with corrupted music and sounds. SNEmulDS probably emulates the game the best, as the configuration file provides fixes for the audio, the only remaining issue being the fact that text is sometimes grayed out and difficult to read.

It also uses Mode7.
